LIFE Programme

2014-2010

LIFE programme was launched in 1992. Its purpose is to finance projects in favor of the environment in the European Union and third countries (candidates to the EU, EFTA countries members of the European Environment Agency countries, and countries of the Western Balkans included in the stabilization and association process). Funded projects may be proposed by agents, entities and public or private institutions.

Three priority areas

The sub-programme for environment covers three priority areas:

  • • LIFE «Environment and Resource Efficiency».
  • • LIFE «Nature and Biodiversity».
  • • LIFE «Environmental Governance and Information».

The thematic priorities for each priority area are further described in Annex III to the LIFE Regulation.

Duration and budget resources

The overall financial envelope for the implementation of the environment sub-programme is 2.592.491.250 euros for the period from 1 January 2014 to 31 December 2020.
